Manuel “Manny” DeCosta – Artist of the Month
The artist strides fearlessly through remote lands, seeking inspiration. His trusty camera hangs by his side, ready to capture the scenes that give him chills of anticipation and excitement. Through his decades of exploration, he has crafted an awe-inspiring collection of paintings, each more beautiful than the last. The ethereal beauty of this world fills his soul, as every brush stroke brings a little bit of it home with him.
Manny is dedicated to supporting his local community. As part of the crime watch in Lehighton, he takes an active role in helping those in need. He volunteers regularly at food pantries and fundraises for the Boys and Girls Clubs. He also encourages others to engage in community service. He has dedicated a large part of his life to giving back to the community.
His collection of paintings was exhibited at the Mauch Chunk Museum Ballroom in Jim Thorpe for a week in October. We discovered Manny during a visit to the museum while he and his assistant were setting up for the upcoming show.
A visit to Jim Thorpe would only be complete with a stop at the Mauch Chunk Museum. It is open from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tour includes a walk-through tour and video. In November the Museum is open Friday through Sunday.
