Cold Spring Village, N.J. Photography Hot Spot

Cold Spring Village, N.J.

Photography Hot Spot Location

COLD SPRING VILLAGE, N.J. PHOTOGRAPHY

We traveled here and bring you all of the information you need.

COLD SPRING VILLAGE PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATION

Stop here for some good old-fashioned photography. The Fee is $15.00 to enter, and you can photograph around 20+ Historic Buildings inside and out. Historic Cold Spring Village is a non-profit educational institution established as an Early American open-air living history museum. Its purpose is three-fold: historic preservation, history education, and heritage tourism. This is accomplished by promoting New Jersey history through extensive programs utilizing the architecture, lifestyles, arts, history, and culture found in a rural South Jersey village during the early to mid-19th century.

  • Personal photography and videography for private, non-commercial use are permitted (and encouraged!) in the Village. However, they ask that your activities not disrupt museum operations or the experience of other guests. The use of additional equipment, including tripods, lights, and ladders, is prohibited.
  • All other organized commercial photo and video shoots, including but not limited to engagement, wedding and family photo shoots, require prior approval by the administrative office. Contact the Village administrative office at (609) 898-2300 for more information.
  • HCSV may photograph or videotape visitors for educational and promotional purposes. Attendance on Village property is implied consent for using visitors’ likenesses for these purposes.

Historic Cold Spring Village will open on weekends from June 16th through September 16th. They are open weekdays, Tuesday through Friday, starting June 23rd through September 2nd.

PHOTOGRAPHY NEARBY

Not too far from this location is a sunrise, sunset, and Milky Way location photography hot spot called East Point Lighthouse. It’s a newly renovated lighthouse where you can create dynamic images. We would pair Cold Spring Village with the lighthouse for your same-day trip. We also paired this up with our Cape May photography shoot. Plan your trip around the Milky Way being visible. You can create dynamic Milky Way images at the lighthouse between April and October. See our Dark Sky Photography Info page for more details about Milky Way photography.

Built:  1894. Original Building Name:  Junior Order United American Mechanics Hall. Original Location:  Cold Spring.

Begin your Village Visit at the air-conditioned Welcome Center, where you will find an introductory exhibit on Cape May County history and a brief orientation video about the Village. A touch screen computer station also offers a virtual reality tour of the historic buildings. The Village administrative office is located on the second floor.

This two-story building housed a chapter of a nationwide fraternal organization that believed in the separation of church and state and supported free education through the public school system. The Cold Spring chapter met in this building at its original location (about 1/4 mile south of HCSV) from 1894 until 1941. Later, the hall served as a municipal building for Lower Township until 1985.
